"5 Things Your Veterinarian Won’t Tell You"

5 Things Your Veterinarian Won’t Tell You
1. Vaccines produce long-lasting immunity. Most vaccines give immunity that lasts 5 years or longer. This means that your pet does not need to be and should not be vaccinated against most diseases on an annual basis. Doing so provides no extra protection and increases the chances of your pet suffering from vaccine-related diseases of the immune system, including cancer.
2. All pets can benefit from supplements. Even pets fed a great natural diet cannot receive every possible ingredient that can benefit its health. Using supplements enhances the positive effects of a great diet.
3. Cats get arthritis. Most veterinarians and pet owners don’t realize that cats are also afflicted with painful joints as they get older. Unlike dogs, arthritis in cats is often sub- clinical as many cats do not show the lameness dogs experience, even know they still feel pain from their damaged joints. And just like dogs, NSAID drugs, which have more side effects in cats, should only be used on really painful days. They should not be given for regular arthritis therapy as joint supplements work just as well with no significant side effects!
4. No pet is too old to anesthetize. All pets regardless of age can and should be anesthetized for regular dental cleanings, tumor removal, and any other procedures which are deemed medically necessary. Old age is not a disease, and healthy older pets do just as well as younger pets when safely anesthetized and carefully monitored. In fact, most of the patients I anesthetize are older pets, and they all handle our holistic approach to anesthesia very well.
5. Pets with cancer respond very well to treatment with chemotherapy and radiation with few side effects. Unlike the situation in people, conventional cancer therapies rarely cause significant side effects in pets. Most pets with cancer can be put into remission quickly when conventional medications are used. And keep in mind that most pets with cancer live even longer, healthier, pain-free lives when an integrative approach, combining the proper diet and nutritional supplements and chemotherapy or radiation, is used!
